Touring Europa VII

I just noticed I better post some more summer vacation photos, before it's starting to snow. As you can guess from the last posts with Karl wearing his bright blue windbreaker and the very yellow rainjacket, it's getting a bit cool around here. So next stop after Genoa was Levanto, a sleepy beach-town, which was actually voted "citta slow" in 2003 (Italians are very proud of not keeping up with the pace of the modern world, hence their invention of the slowfood trend).

We stayed at a former farm turned hotel. They still grow some olives and vegetables for the local cooperative. So Karl got his first hands-on country-life experiences. First day he got to go to the garden with the owners' 3-year old son Giulian. We harvested some corn that he got to clean, cook and eat
in our little apartment. After that the garden remained the main point of attraction for the rest of the trip. Eating tomatoes and grapes from the vine, picking apples and cucumbers and cutting bamboo. Giulian also had the same tricycle we have at home. There was some mighty fast running, when Karl found out that you can pick up some real speed, when you push yourself down a steep slope on that thing.
